Five-minute tour: wide and narrow shells¶

Intended audience¶
Users who want to finish one pass of viewing, locating, and exporting quickly.
Prerequisites¶
The library has a PCB you can open; BluePhil is a good starting sample.
Steps¶
- Open a PCB and wait for the 2D canvas.
- Zoom, pan, and pick a pad or track; open Info and double-click its body to copy details.
- Open Inspect → Highlight & Objects → Nets, search for
GND, check the result, then use Highlight and Clear. - Open 3D from the toolbar and close its modal to return; use Estimate for quotes and Info for board and revision details.
- Use Fit All, then More → Export to choose PNG, its scope, and a save destination.
- Return to the library; save, discard, or continue editing when prompted about unsaved changes.
Panels are on the right in wide layouts and above the canvas in narrow layouts. Open Project, Inspect, AI, Estimate, and Settings from the toolbar; click the active button again to collapse it. Layout follows window proportions, including on Mac. The screenshots below retain historical controls; follow the current steps above.
Result¶
You completed viewing, object search, mode switching, and one PNG export.
FAQ¶
Cannot find Export in the narrow shell?¶
Open More → Export on the 2D canvas. Finish or cancel an active editing command before exporting.
Is AI a required onboarding step?¶
No. Without an API key, the page shows Open AI Settings. Ordinary viewing and local export do not need an AI conversation.
